My dad used to spend winters with us and one of his favorite things to do on Fridays was “Close Friends”. I was on staff at Wellspring, and so he came to work with me and participated in in this wonderful ministry. He loved it. I used to sing for Close Friends every now and then and so when they asked if I’d be willing to come back and sing John Denver and James Taylor songs, I said Yes.

This time I’ll throw in some love songs, since its Valentine’s Day.

St. Philip’s is the Buchele’s sending church, and on September 15 there will be a commissioning service before they leave for Vietnam.

While the Buchele’s will speak briefly at the 8:15, 9:30 & 11am service, it is the 11am service where the commissioning will take place. Lunch will be served after in the FLC.

Steve served Wellspring as Director of Music 2008-09, but first attended worship at the church when they met at the old middle school, a few years after Rev. Nancy Woods started it. Rev. Woods was Steve’s mentor in the ordination process, so he knew the church well before being appointed there.

Steve & Suzanne will give a short presentation thanking the church for its faithful support of God’s mission in Ghana, and give a vision for their ministry in Vietnam.

Steve will be bringing the message at the 11am Contemporary Service in the Fellowship Hall. St. John’s was started by a group of Swedish immigrants who joined together in their homes to study, worship and pray and built our first church building in 1882. In 1906, they moved the church to Georgetown to the place where it stands today.

Central Baptist was the church of Suzanne’s mother that was a supporting church of our Ghana mission. The Bucheles will speak to this next phase of their mission to Vietnam, and meet with their Mission Board.
